With the loss of full track previews on Last.fm our music can no longer be listened to direct from our artist page in full, only as 30 sec previews. They are still streamable via the various radio stations associated with us (eg similar artists, tags, etc), but may not play immediately. So if you want to check out the songs in full without having to listen or skip endlessly through a radio station you can find us on the following sites:

* Grooveshark
* Reverbnation
* Blip.fm
* Myspace

We’re also on Facebook, so if you’re on there become a fan to keep up to date on all the latest.

Just a quick update on the recording… It’s going a little slower than we’d like due to other distractions but it’s getting there. The first phase is almost complete, and the backing tracks are nearly done, just a few more bits to do. This means that in the next few weeks we’ll be heading to the rehearsal studio to practice the songs, to make sure we can play the songs along to the defined structures…

More to follow, but in the mean time you can listen to our previous recordings which we’ve now uploaded to Grooveshark and Blip.fm, along with the places they were up before.

We’ve been a bit quiet of late, but we’ve also been busy. And so to keep you abreast of our goings on here is a brief bit of news…

We’ve been planning some rehearsals in order to head in to a recording studio in the summer with the view to recording an album. So far we’ve put together our favourite songs into some kind of coherent running order, which we think flows rather nicely, and soon we’ll be laying down backing/click tracks. Once that’s done we’ll do some rehearsal with these tracks to make sure everything is in tip-top shape, and then we’ll be ready to start recording the drums. From there everything else should hopefully flow…

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our performance at Club Fabulous next week (25th Feb) due to our drummer having sustained a serious back injury. We’re sorry to disappoint those who were looking forward to seeing us.

We hope to be back in action soon and that you’ll come along to one of our future gigs.

It’s five days into 2009, so it seems it’s a great time to wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a good holiday season, whatever you were celebrating (or not celebrating as the case may be). Also thanks to all those that have given their support, in whichever way this has been.

Anyway pressing on, I think the usual thing to do is give an overview of how the last year went, what we were up to, and what we plan for the coming year. I’ll be brief: in short the last year was pretty good for us Wizards, playing a few gigs around London, and even managing a brief summer excursion to Tamworth. We also got mentioned in Shindig magazine, a fine publication on psych/garage/folk music. The coming year promises more gigs, and maybe we’ll manage to get in to the studio and record an album. So keep an eye, or ear, out…

And that’s about it really. Hope to meet you all at one of our future gigs.

Silver Wizard 🙂

Some photos were taken of our last gig on 25th Nov. Click on the photo below to see the full set. Many kind thanks to Tom for taking these.

It’s been brought to our attention that we’ve had a mention in the July-August issue of Shindig, a pysch, garage, beat, powerpop, folk magazine. It’s just a short piece in a section called “My Generation… Your Generation”, written by Phil Istine on new bands to watch out for.

Here’s what was written:

“The Silver Wizard Project, also from London, would be included here if only because they have a kraut-psych song called ‘Psychedelic Fucking Machine’. The real ale-supping five-piece group seem too rural in appearance for the capital, but then the sound does have a hard, almost metalic edge to the songs that I reckon puts them in the rarely spotted gothic-folk-psych genre. With their violins, theremin, and outlandish stage attire, the ‘fairytale rock collective’ are most definitely out there on their own, and all power to them for that.”

We’ve got two more gigs lined up:

* SUN 12 OCT – Buffalo Bar (Highbury & Islington), 259 Upper Street, London N1.
